VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Regional Project Coordinator

Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) is a professional Association established to represent Midwives and Midwifery profession in Ethiopia is implementing different projects. Thus, Ethiopian Midwives Association wants to hire competent professionals for a Regional Project Coordinator vacant post for its UNICEF funded project which is titled Reduction of Maternal & Newborn mortality through provision of quality basic emergency obstetric and newborn care in collaboration with FMOH and RHBs. 

All staff members of Ethiopian midwives Association, regardless of the level of their responsibilities are expected to:

  • Make responsible decisions that result in time and cost containment and clear accountability 

 

Job Summary

The job coordinator will be responsible in the overall planning, coordination and managing of the project in collaboration with the project team.

Report to:-Program Manager

Duties & Responsibilities

The roles and responsibilities of the Project Coordinator will be:-

  • Coordinate and ensure efficient and effective implementation of the project with due consideration of timelines in delivering results 
  • Coordinate the overall project implementation in both at national & regional level
  • Prepare project all year, annual, bi-annual and quarterly plan in the light of different demands (donor and government)
  • Continuously revise and submit plans in the light of the feedbacks from donors and other partners and ensure that activities in the plan are rightly contributing to the attainment of the objective 
  • Prepare project implementation plans, budgets and carry out proper implementation of the project pertinent to the responsibility
  • Be responsible in ensuring appropriate tracking of project results towards complementing the achievement of the Associations’
  • Support the project staff in prioritizing and implementation of activities
  • Communicate with respective regional, zonal and woreda responsible officers for the implementation of the project activities
  • Provide technical support and assure the quality of the training
  • Create and facilitate smooth relationship with government bureaus, partners and other external organizations as needed
  • Conduct continuous supportive supervision to the  project implementation area and document the findings for improving results
  • Compiled best practices and communicate the result
  • Take part and be responsible for the entire programs, preparations of project proposal, monitoring tool development, timely donor reports, and design and implement a system tracking all the necessary information and reports in the association
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Organizations/ project teams and  to ensure timely communications and availing all project related data
  •  Ensure that all activities are accomplished maintaining its standard and quality results are delivered
  • Coordinate timely request and release of budget to the respective implementing partners for timely implementation of the project from each partner
  •  Coordinate the preparation and timely submission of reports in line with the expected standards
  •  Analyze critical and emerging issues in the course of project implementation and give the necessary and appropriate responses
  •  Ensure budgets are properly utilized to the purpose jointly with finance team as well as the  program Manager accordingly in a regular basis
  •  Make sure that the budget utilization are complying with donor, organizational other requirements and regulations
  •  Regularly track the budget with the finance team,
  •  Make sure that any budget request is prepared in detail and in line with the agreement and policy and also the plan in the project document
  • Be responsible in organizing and updating the necessary information regarding the overall project status.
  • Make sure and follow all trainee data base is completed and updated
  • Coordinate all implementing and other partners to create synergy and collaboration for the effective and efficient implementation of the project
  •  Ensure that strong partnership and collaboration is created at all levels
  • Maintain up to date records and reports on project progresses
  • Ensure that regular monitoring and evaluation of project progresses are conducted, findings are documented and feed in to the planning process
  • In consultation and with advice from the Program Manager, facilitate for regular quarterly, biannual, and annual review of the project at taskforce and project staff level
  • Compile data on progresses and report the status to staff, management committee, the executive board and relevant partners and platforms every quarter, biannual, annual and any time demanded
  • Do other activities as per the need of the organization and guidance from supervisors.

Job Requirements

  • MPH or MSC with a background in Midwifery, Nursing, Health Officer, or other health related fields. 
  • Minimum of 5/7 years experience out of which 2/3 yrs should be  in managing health programs in NGO and familiarity with the Ethiopian health sector development plan 
  • Proven experience in program management or coordination 
  • Sufficient knowledge and experience of working in NGO section and MNCH area      at National and International level.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and stressful situations
  • Proficiency  in spoken and written English
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to organize and maintain team spirit 
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and Prioritize work under pressure
  • Familiarity with UN funded programs/projects is advantageous
